Dreaming...

Monday 30 May 2011

It's Monday, I am at work, it's very hot and everything can I think of is the beach, a nice holiday somewhere exotic, a lazy cocktail by the pool....

light, camera, shoot!

I bought a few adorable Elena Mirò pieces in the past, I love this brand!
And we fell in love for each other through my blog.
We had our first official ‘date’ at the Milan Fashion Week in February, where I’ve attended an amazing fashion show.
A few weeks later I had a preview of the next season's collection at the Press Day.

Our relationship is growing and Elena Mirò invited me to try the Spring/Summer collection in the main flagship store in via Dante in Milano, a couple of weeks ago. I had so much fun trying on beautiful garments and have my pictures taken (well, I can now understand how models feel like..).
Lilac, coral, camel and white are Elena Mirò [and mine] colors for a beautiful and curvy Spring.

Every garment is super-feminine, with the right proportions and shapes that gently embrace the curves (omg, what kind if English is this?!)
- Did you get the point on how much I adore this brand?

Here is a selection of some pieces I have tried (btw, I am going to buy many of them !):

Want to feel like a princess? This is the dress for you! The coral shade is super cool, the jewelled straps add the perfect twist and the shape is comfortable, it hides those [unwanted] curves and it’s wavy and light. Did you noticed the clutch?

I have never considered wearing a poncho until I tried this one: comfy, versatile, light and super feminine!
Cropped trousers and high heels were the perfect match for it and look: I am ready for an evening out! Going to work? Wear it with denim.

Poncho?

This jacket has a unique 50's design and it was love at first sight! Here I am with the matching trousers but its skirt would also works wonder.

This white shirt has a pearl embellished neckline, cute!

I am not used to have my pictures taken, but I was incredibly comfortable in these amazing dresses that made me feel pretty and stylish.
I would love to publish all the marvelous pictures Chiara took (she is a very talented, artistic and professional girl) but the post would have been too long, don’t you think? Wanna see more?
But I am going to spoil you with some ‘behind the scenes’ pictures I am sure you will enjoy!!! Keep an eye on Longuette in the next days.

Prét-à-porter

Nop! I am not pretending to be a model but I had so much fun during the shooting!

Let me officially thank Elena Mirò, amazing Francesca and Chiara, and all the lovely sales assistants for this incredible experience!

No!

Guest post: Chicken leg karma

Monday 23 May 2011

Ciao carissimi Longuette readers!
The lovely Yle, has kindly invited me to write this Guest post while she is…well, away…on business…being a misterious ravishing Italian woman that she is (because even if she's doing her laundry or "Ho bisogno di fare il bucato" , seriously people, doesnt everything sound better if we say it in Italian?).

So, when facing the moment of writing I thought, what could I possibly write for her blog that involves fashion, style and mantains her deliciously girlie blogger tone?

And then, of course, it hit me: CHICKEN LEG KARMA.

See, a few days ago I had lunch with my parents. They have a country house outside Barcelona and a chicken from the farm next door had crossed to their property. They spent a couple of hours chasing it while the animal screamed like crazy, and when they finally cornered "Valentino" (chicken's name…Fashion hint. Get it? Get it?) well, my dad grabbed his legs and threw him over the fence thinking he would at least spread his wings and fly a couple of meters. But Valentino, probably suffering some form of Post traumathic stress disorder, felt like a dead weight.

The result? Valentino's broken leg and (although the farmer assured that he'd be ok in a couple of days), my parents feeling guilty and ashamed for the whole day.

So obvisously I laughed at their story (hey, Valentino was fine and my parents looked like they had killed an entire city by accident)…and of course, then karma heard me.

So next day, my shop flooded, my period came earlier and worst of all (oh-the-drama!), my ASOS order was delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. True story.

So, while torturing myself waiting for the goodies to arrive, I'll share them with you…see if Karma has some mercy on this little shopaholic.

This is a lovely floral dress which I found very feminine and sweet, and being the tomboy that I am, I think my husband will appreciate the difference when I wear it for a romantic dinner. Some black sandals and very basic accessories and we have a winner look! I love the kind of dresses that dont ask for more, the ones you wear with simple earrings and maybe a cute ring but still keep that classy Parisian air, mai oui?

Im hereby channeling my inner nerd. Twice.
There. I said it.

And yes, this one might be a hard one to wear, but since Zara and some other low-cost brands like Mango and H&M have insisted so much on the white and colorblocking blazers this Spring, I thought it would be a fun piece to wear with black trousers or even a maxi skirt. Black Swan meets Audrey Hepburn.

So, bottom line, here's the lesson of the day, my lovelies: NEVER EVER LAUGH AT A POOR'S CHICKEN INJURY. KARMA MIGHT BE LISTENING.

Thanks to the lovely, beautiful Ylenia for giving me the opportunity to write here.
I looooooooove her looks, her fab style and her sweetness. Hey, she's my buddie so I can show off a bit, right?
See you soon guys!

PS: I DO in fact love Yle that much (Ive got 7 words for you people : Superb.Italian.Cooking.Skills+Tupperwares.To.Barcelona… see where Im heading?)

It's just a matter of time...

And you have to wait a little bit more to understand what I was doing in this changing room, wearing this fabulous dress….

Little pleasure from the South

I have been give some sun-kissed lemons from Sicily and what's best then doing a home made jam?

Here is my quick (and successful) recipe:

wash lemons carefully and remove dry or brown parts
thinly slice them all and place the bits into a bowl
add some water to soften the zest and remove some bitter flavour from the fruits
(I've done this in the morning and cook the jam in late afternoon)

remove the cutted pieces, squeezing them with your hands to remove excess water
put in a pan, add sugar with equal weight of the original fruits
cook for 40 min by gently wisking
jam will be ready when, pouring a spoon of it on the plate, it won't run but has the right density

fill with jam some sterilised vases

now, take some fresh bread, butter and a tea with milk and enjoy this little pleasure!!!

OOTD

I had a busy day on Sat going from a neighbour meeting's to finish some work stuff to a photoshoot (I'll tell you more about this in the next days).
I chose an outfit that would have been versatile for all the different situations, comfortable because I had to wear it all day long and perfect for day and evening.

If you have been follow my blog, you know that I LOVE dresses! I found them comfortable, feminine, and the perfect 'save-my-day-outfit' when I do not what to wear... This one is adorable and would you believe that I bought it at the supermarket? It's very elegant and it has the perfect lenght, right below the knee (not too granny style). Its shape is soft and it just hide those not-do-loved extra curves that are usually called 'belly'!

To jig it up, I have added a denim blazer, little heels (I expected to walk quite a bit), and big sunglasses à la Jackie O. I am carrying my Coccinelle bag (which I adore because of its neautral colour that goes with anything and because it's my b/f present for our 8th anniversary). Talking about presents, the little butterfly brooch is a present I got at the age of 8 from an auntie and I love it so much!!).

°°°

Get inspired: Sophia Loren

Tuesday 10 May 2011

Inspired by my latest post I have been thinking at some Italian beauty icons.
Curvacious, sexy, stilish, a real woman, with real curves, Sophia Loren is a unique beautiful woman to be inspired from.

It's difficult to talk about Sophia, there is so much to say about her career, her achievements in life, her beauty. But I prefer let these amazing picture illustrate such incredible woman.
