Reykjavík Fashion Festival

Last Summer I'd adventured in the nordic landes of Iceland, the most incredible, mystic and rewarding time I had in my life (check here and here).

But what I want to talk about here is the eclectic style and fashion I have been sorrounded of beautiful valkyries and fashinating vikings.

In these days Reykjavik hosted the third fashion event: The Reykjavík Fashion Festival’s in fact, presents Iceland’s most provocative and skilled designers’ Fall/Winter collections on a four-day explosion of fashion design and music.

In recent years the creative industries in Iceland have been flourishing. The local market has become a melting pot of exciting new creative enterprises that are definitely willing to be known outside the country.

I would love to share with you a small selection of pieces from the interesting and unique designers that where at the festival.

Talking about presents...

Eyjafjallajökull glacier is the fifth biggest glacier on Iceland and one of the most famous volcano and glacier in the world.
In the Spring of 2010, Eyjafjallajökull became known for making a big impact on the whole world by its eruption.

In those days, my Boss and many colleagues have been affected by the travel disruption and I worked long hours to support them, accommodate them abroad and finally get them home.

When I was in Reykjavik (Iceland capital), I felt I need to bring home something special and unique from this beautiful island. I bought a body lotion, a revolutionary face serum, and a an eye cream, all made with natural ingredients, local herbs, glacier and thermal water. Of course I have taken lava stones and some sand right from the feet of the volcano.

EFJ EyjafjallajökullBut the most precious gift I bought for myself is a perfume, EFJ Eyjafjallajökull.

EFJ Eyjafjallajökull by Gydja is a classic, spicy, light and fresh fragrance with hints of citrus, vanilla, roses and bergamot. The perfume is made with pure glacial water from Eyjafjallajökull, and every bottle comes with a small lava rock from the volcano! Let me tell, you it smell magic!!!

When Gydja launched EFJ Eyjafjallajökull they established an incentive fund for Icelandic female workers volunteering in the large rescue team Landsbjorg.
For every bottle of EFJ and VJK sale, a donation will go to this fund, supporting these women financially to get the education and equipment needed for their work.
During the eruptions many farmers and townsfolk lost their lands to ashes and lava, and many rescue workers put themselves in great danger.

Gydja Collection (pronounced: "gith-e-ya") is an Icelandic luxury fashion brand established in 2007 by Sigrún Lilja Guðjónsdóttir.

Gydja Collection includes sexy sandals, original handbags and belts made in eco friendly Icelandic fish skin.

Iceland

Iceland, what an amazing country. I would like to tell and write, write, write you everything I have see and experienced.
But I prefer the pictures to do the “talking” and show you the unforgettable places we visited.

If you need any kind of info on this country, write me and I’ll help you out!

There are more to come, this is only the first post of many interesting things!

I am back from my Summer break and already at work.
I had an amazing time and cannot wait to show you the pictures and report back about nature, people, fashion and food.
Please give me a few more days to get my head around the ‘routine life’.

And what about you, did you have a nice time in these last two weeks? Have you done something nice?
Tell me everything!!!

Raccontatemi tutto!!!
